When you lend a hand to Meals on Wheels San Francisco, you are helping seniors live happily and independently in their own homes. Each of our programs goes a long way to reduce symptoms associated with loneliness, depression, and falls. And the need for Meals on Wheels in San Francisco has never been greater. The cost of living in San Francisco is 62% higher than the national average; a sudden and unexpected jump that many seniors on fixed incomes did not anticipate. Furthermore, we are experiencing a seismic shift in the number of seniors who live in San Francisco. By 2037, there will be 100,000 more seniors in San Francisco than there are today. With your help, we delivered 2 million meals to 4,500 seniors across our beloved city in 2017. But there is still so much more to do.

To find out how you can support our organization, visit our Volunteer page. Here, you will find a plethora of opportunities for those who are very busy (Card-Making) and for large teams (Disaster Kit Deliveries). Among our most popular are the Good Neighbor program and Home Delivered Grocery program, as well as various fundraising events we host every year.

However, your options are not limited to programs hosted by Meals on Wheels San Francisco. In fact, you may find contributing to our organization easier by way of hosting your own event. Here is a list of 100 fun fundraising ideas that will help get you and your friends involved. You can craft an event around your interests, or what you think would be the most successful in raising funds in your community. A charitable potluck, golf tournament, or trivia night (where the proceeds are donated to Meals on Wheels San Francisco) are great examples of how easy it is to host events for a good cause. By utilizing a free event planning tool, you can quickly set up a fundraising event you choose and take advantage of social sharing tools to help get your friends involved.

Together we can deliver on our promise and commitment to advocate for seniors. Through your contribution, you play a significant role in helping seniors age with independence and dignity. As the senior population grows, so must our commitment; today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
