Delivery Assistance Volunteering

DELIVERY DRIVER VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP DISTRIBUTE MEALS TO SENIOR CLIENTS

If you are healthy, we need your help for the next couple of weeks (possibly longer) to make sure that our MOWSF clients continue to receive nourishment during the current COVID-19 pandemic. We have two types of volunteer opportunities with shift signups below.

VOLUNTEER AS A MEAL DELIVERY ASSISTANT

Job Description:

Go out on a four-hour route and help one of our drivers deliver meals while following all delivery, safety, and health protocols. Protocols may change as we respond to requirements and guidelines from the SF Department of Public Health.

Details:

We will provide you with all the necessary gear and safety equipment. Shifts start and end at our headquarters in the Bayview at 1375 Fairfax Avenue.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your shift start time and bring a valid photo ID.

Upon arrival, ask for the Emergency Coordinator.

Qualifications:

Must be over 18 in order to volunteer

Must be able to lift 30 lbs

Must be able to climb stairs and walk from parking to client’s home while carrying meal(s)

Our meal deliveries happen rain or shine so volunteers should dress appropriately as well as wear comfortable shoes

VOLUNTEER FOR MEAL DROPS TO BUILDINGS LOCATED IN THE TENDERLOIN & SOMA

Job Description:

Come to Meals on Wheels and pick up the meals and drop them off to a building in the Tenderloin or SOMA. You will drop off the insulated meal bags in the lobby and the staff at the buildings will distribute them to the senior clients. You will also need to pick up the empty insulated bags from the previous day. The buildings we serve in these areas typically have 10-50 clients which equals one to five meal bags.

You will need to follow all delivery, safety, and health protocols. Protocols may change as we respond to requirements and guidelines from the Department of Public Health.

We will provide you with all the necessary gear and safety equipment. Shifts start and end at our headquarters in the Bayview at 1375 Fairfax Avenue.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your shift start time and bring a valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance. Upon arrival, ask for the Emergency Coordinator.

Note: It may help to bring a friend along to help as parking/double parking can be difficult in TL & SOMA.

Must have your own vehicle with insurance that can fit several insulated meals bags (meals bags contain on average 10 meal packs)

Must be over 18 in order to volunteer

Must be able to lift 30 lbs
