Save the Date!
Meals On Wheels of San Francisco (MOWSF) is pleased to announce the date of the 27th Annual Star Chefs & Vintners Gala. The Gala, one of the premier culinary events of the Bay Area, will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2014, at Fort Mason’s Festival Pavilion. Each year, the region’s top chefs and vintners join together for an evening in support of San Francisco’s homebound seniors.
The Gala begins with a wine, cocktail and hors d’œuvre reception, followed by a three-course sit-down dinner and lavish dessert reception. More than 100 chefs and over 80 vintners contribute to the event, which also includes live and silent auctions and dancing. Proceeds go toward providing crucial support — including hot meals, daily human contact and volunteer services — for the City’s most vulnerable residents, allowing MOWSF to continue its mission of “Nourishing the Whole Person.”
Highlights from the 2013 Star Chefs & Vintners Gala
The 2013 MOWSF Star Chefs & Vintners Gala, held on April 21, 2013, at Fort Mason Center, raised a record $2.165 million for homebound seniors – the most ever in the event’s 26-year history. This amount translated into an estimated 430,000 meals, or over a third of the more than 1 million meals that Meals On Wheels of San Francisco will delivers to homebound seniors in a year. More than 100 chefs and over 63 vintners participated in the Gala, one of the finest culinary events in the Bay Area. Over 334 volunteers donated their time, equal to an in-kind gift of $30,000, and 200 businesses and individuals contributed to the live and silent auctions.
We are grateful for the leadership of Chef Gala Chair Nancy Oakes, the MOWSF board and honorary board and for the exceptional planning by the Steering and Wine committees, Taste Catering and Hartmann Studios. Heartfelt thanks go to our sponsors, individual patrons and the more than 1,000 guests, who made this event possible. Read more about the 2013 Gala here.
