SAN FRANCISCO, August 4, 2015 – This week, AT&T presented a check to Meals On Wheels of San Francisco (MOWSF) for $40,000. This generous gift is part of AT&T’s “SF Summer of Giving” campaign, which awarded a total of $283,000 to eight community organizations.
The funds from this grant will support an IT project that will automate many of MOWSF’s paper processes, allowing the organization to more efficiently deliver meals to under-served, homebound seniors in San Francisco. New MOWSF Board Member Marc Blakeman, Vice President External Affairs at AT&T, presented the check to MOWSF President and Executive Director, Ashley C. McCumber, and staff.
“We have a longstanding partnership with AT&T and are thrilled to receive this support through the ‘SF Summer of Giving’ campaign,” said McCumber. “We put eyes and hearts across thresholds every day to meet the needs of homebound seniors. The technology this grant supports will help us deepen this commitment and to respond even more effectively to our clients’ needs.”
The campaign began in June with a kick-off celebration at City Hall with San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee and AT&T California President Ken McNeely. “Investing in our communities is not only the right thing to do, it’s one of the smartest things we can do to help keep our communities accessible and vibrant,” said McNeely. “The ‘SF Summer of Giving’ is about giving back and lifting up the organizations and programs that lift up San Francisco.”
Every week from June 25th to August 14th, AT&T has highlighted a different “SF Summer of Giving” awardee and their contributions to San Francisco.
The eight gift recipients include:
• Meals On Wheels of San Francisco
• San Francisco AIDS Foundation
• University of San Francisco’s Girl TechPower Program
• California Historical Society (supporting the Recreation and Park Department’s PPIE Passport to Success program)
• The Arc of San Francisco
• CORO Northern California
