Ashley C. McCumber has 30 years of nonprofit and community leadership experience with extensive expertise in fundraising, community relations, nonprofit management, arts and event administration. He joined Meals On Wheels of San Francisco (MOWSF) as the CEO and Executive Director in August 2007.
Ashley oversees the daily operations of the organization, which has an annual budget of more than $9 million. He also spearheads fundraising and development initiatives and acts as a liaison to government and community agencies. Ashley has been at the helm during a time of dramatic growth in both the population and needs of San Francisco’s homebound seniors. In addition, he serves on the board of Meals On Wheels Association of America and is the current board chair of the California Association of Nonprofits.
Prior to joining MOWSF, Ashley served as the President and CEO of United South End Settlements (USES) in Boston, Massachusetts, which works to improve education, health, safety and economic security for low-income individuals and families. Joining that agency in 2002, he was successful at increasing programming and boosting civic participation in the South End and Lower Roxbury neighborhoods. As President of USES, he oversaw a $3.7 million annual operating budget, supporting four facilities
Ashley’s former executive and managerial positions include service as Executive Director, Springstep Center for Traditional Dance and Music, Medford, MA; Senior Director of Institutional Advancement, Unitarian Universalists Service Committee, Cambridge, MA; Director of Development, Marketing and Communications, Codman Square Health Center, Dorchester, MA; Associate Director of Development and Alumni Relations at Bridgewater State College; and Director of Tourism and Cultural Development for the City of New Bedford, MA.
